Somewhere Up in Space is the fine-art practice of photographer Kat Dykeman, shooting the night sky, the Sun, and wild places from Woodside, California. Work this quiet needs a site that gets out of its way — most photography templates couldn't.
We built a dark, editorial gallery: a full-bleed hero over a still mountain lake, serif display type set large and calm, a 'why we look up' interlude, and four themed collections that let each frame fill the screen. A short film section adds motion without pulling focus from the stills.
Every choice points back at the photographs — deep black backgrounds, generous space, and typography that reads like a print catalog. The site feels like the work: patient, precise, and a little bit in awe.
